Performance Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:

manage well completion and rig release on at least two occasions, including:

developing and monitoring completion schedules in line with drilling contracts and well prognosis

preparing rig for release

coordinating rig move, including:

tour book

work orders

invoicing

shutdown list

rigging down and securing ready for removal

interpreting environmental plan and making arrangements for waste disposal

processing written records and reports.

During the above, the candidate must:

locate and apply required legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

work with others to manage well completion and rig lease operations that meet the required outcomes, including:

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

communicating with others to receive and clarify work instructions

communicating with others to resolve coordination requirements throughout work activities.


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including knowledge of:

key legislation required for managing well completion and rig release, including:

statutory safety guidelines, procedures and practices

key policies, procedures and established requirements for managing well completion and rig release, including those for

establishing and maintaining safe operating procedures for operating equipment

establishing and maintaining well completion and release procedures

maintaining safe rigging and dogging practices

identifying auxiliary equipment functions and service requirements

complying with road haulage regulations

safety and environmental issues

using communication equipment

establishing and preparing for emergency procedures

establishing and maintaining preventative maintenance

adhering to workplace relations and award conditions

the specific rig tear-out sequence.
